95: Leslie Durso on Meatless Mindset for Easy Sophistication

05/31/2016

So, you’ve decided to go vegan, but where do you begin? Going cold-turkey can be tough, and navigating through the complicated online recipes and lists of unfamiliar ingredients can be frustrating! This is where today’s guest, actress turned celebrity chef and healthy living educator, Leslie Durso, steps in.

Leslie has been walking the plant-based path since the age of 8! Her love of cooking began as she veganized her family’s traditional Italian dishes. Despite being a gourmet vegan chef (and we testify to her talents – the cupcakes she brought us were divine!), Leslie focuses on providing easy, accessible and tasty plant-based recipes that anyone can make.

Leslie has combined her love of food and education to bring the message of healthy living to the world, one cupcake at the time. Her approach is inclusive; her goal is to get everyone to simply eat more vegetables and to help people find their food-spot, the diet and lifestyle that works for them. Leslie doesn’t believe there are any incurable diseases—what you put into your body is exactly what you’re going to get out.

What you’ll discover:

  • Why Leslie ate 32 cupcakes in one sitting.
  • What makes Leslie a vegan chef with a difference.
  • The way food perception can change what the food does to your body.
  • Why certain studies can’t be trusted, and how to get the full story.
  • How to convince and promote positive change through love.
  • The only question you need to ask to find out whether your cosmetics are safe.
  • How to make your own vanilla extract (it’s amazing in cupcake frosting OR cocktails!)
  • Why hybrid cars may not be that sustainable after all, and a more eco-friendly option.
  • How your diet can make a bigger impact on the planet than anything else.
  • Leslie’s favorite vegan make-up brands.
